Placido Domingo, international tenor, will perform on February 28 at the Teodoro Mariscal stadium, on the centenary of the celebration of the Floral Games of the Mazatlán Carnival 2025, La Perla, reported Raúl Rico González, director of the Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlán.
The singer will be accompanied by the Mazatlán Symphony Orchestra, the Guillermo Sarabia Choir and the Mexican Traditional Ensemble, all directed by maestro Enrique Patrón de Rueda.
Placido Domingo will perform a wide repertoire during the coronation of the queen of the floral games, Desiré Velázquez and at the presentation of the Clemencia Isaura poetry award, which will be received by Armando Alanís Pulido, with his literary work “The beautiful noise of the motorcycle that brings us pizza”, endowed with an economic stimulus of 100 thousand pesos.
In addition, during the event, dancers from the Mazatlán Ballet Company and guests will take the stage, directed by the masters Zoila Hernández and Eduardo Blanco, a notable Cuban-born dancer and choreographer.
Before, on Saturday, February 22 at 8:00 p.m., the Ángela Peralta Theater will be the stage for the Evening of the Arts, A Night in Vienna, with music by Strauss and the presentation of the Mazatlán Literature Prize 2025 and the economic stimulus of 100 thousand pesos contributed by the UAS, to the author of the winning work.
The Camerata Mazatlán, the Guillermo Sarabia Choir and the guest soloists will participate in the show: Jessika Arévalo (soprano), Andrés Carrillo (Tenor), Vanessa Gama (Soprano) and Sarah Holcombe (mezzo-soprano), under the direction of Enrique Patrón de Rueda.
In addition, within the context of the Mazatlán Carnival, on Thursday, February 27, the coronation of the king of joy will take place at the Teodoro Mariscal stadium and on March 1, the coronation of the queen of the carnival festivities, where Grupo Firme will participate and on March 3, the children’s coronation with the presentation of the singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz.
