The mayor of Querétaro, Felipe Macías Olvera, signed the sister city agreement with the city of San Antonio, Texas, with the aim of strengthening tourism, investment, technological development and bilateral cooperation.

During his working tour in the American city, the mayor met with his counterpart, Ron Nirenberg, to strengthen the collaboration between both cities on issues of economic growth, technological innovation and investment attraction.

“The sister city agreement between Querétaro and San Antonio allows us to build bridges instead of barriers, foster cooperation instead of mistrust and bet on integration instead of isolation. In today’s interconnected world, this is a very powerful tool,” said Macías Olvera.

As part of his agenda, the mayor held meetings with four leading companies in support of entrepreneurs and SMEs, with the intention of generating agreements that provide business opportunities for Querétaro residents.

Among the organizations he contacted are Greater:SATX, which promotes quality jobs; Geekdom, dedicated to promoting startups; Alamo Angels, which finances emerging companies; and The Texas International Business Accelerator (TIBA), which supports the expansion of small businesses and foreign investors in Texas.

In addition, the municipal government seeks to attract investment for the Center for Innovation and Creative Technology, BLOQUE, in order to generate employment, strengthen entrepreneurship and offer training to young people.

“We are going to generate alliances and agreements so that, with the support of these associations from San Antonio, we can support young entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, micro and small business owners in Querétaro. We are starting with everything,” added the mayor.
