The state of Tamaulipas ranked first in terms of industrial growth in the entire country.
Inegi measurements reported an annual increase of 12.7 percent in the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity.
The Secretary of Economy, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, estimated that the increase in industrial activity “was favored by increases in the manufacturing and mining sectors that in the tenth month of the year reported a dynamism that was reflected in the rest of the industry in the state.
“The growth recorded in the state’s industrial sector was due, among other factors, to increases in manufacturing orders from international markets, the expansion of established companies and the start of new investment projects,” she described.
The secretary recalled that the administration of Governor Américo Villarreal has as one of its economic axes “to support the established industry in the different productive regions of the state.”
Among these sectors are the automotive, electrical, chemical, petrochemical, aerospace, medical, semiconductor and food sectors, among others.
Ninfa Cantú also stressed that 60 percent of the investment projects “confirmed in Tamaulipas are related to industrial activity.”
Therefore, this sector is a pillar of the Tamaulipas economy by providing employment to 465 thousand people, equivalent to 28 percent of the employed population.
