The Specialized Anti-Kidnapping Unit (UEA), in collaboration with the Specialized Unit in Combating Kidnapping of the State of Oaxaca, executed an arrest warrant against Ezequiel N, 67 years old, for his alleged responsibility in the crime of aggravated kidnapping to the detriment of two people.
It was indicated in a statement that the events occurred on June 12, 1996 in Mazatlán, when the victims were allegedly deprived of their freedom by Ezequiel N and other people.
The victims were taken to a house where they were held for approximately thirty days.
The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of one million dollars, but after a negotiation, the amount was reduced to 800 thousand pesos.
The payment was made according to the demands of the captors, the money was thrown from a plane in the city of Los Mochis, and later the victims were released.
Thanks to the work of the Specialized Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the necessary elements were collected to request the arrest warrant, including witness statements, photographic identification, confessions of co-defendants and police information reports.
In addition, it was determined that the kidnappers acted violently, in a group and with the objective of obtaining an economic benefit, which aggravated the crime.
