The Secretary of Culture of the Government of Mexico, Claudia Curiel de Icaza, announced that Veracruz will be the guest state of honor at the 53rd edition of the International Cervantino Festival (FIC), which will take place from October 10 to 26.
From the Chapultepec Scenic Pavilion and representing Governor Rocío Nahle García, Xóchitl Molina González thanked the hospitality and brotherhood between Veracruz and Guanajuato, entities that, through culture, are intertwined with the firm purpose of showing the wealth of the nation.
She pointed out that the entity is history, tradition and avant-garde, cradle of a cultural diversity that is expressed in its music, dances, native languages, Afro-descendant heritage and in contemporary creations that continue to surprise the world.
She reiterated that the Veracruz delegation will arrive with the passion of the jaranas, the depth of literature and the strength of the artistic scene: “Because for the love of our land and for the love of Veracruz, we bring the talent of the creators who keep our identity alive and project it towards the future.”
Molina González highlighted that, in the Year of the Indigenous Woman, Veracruz reaffirms its commitment to pay tribute to those who have preserved and strengthened the roots and identity of the state, from the high mountains to the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico.
In that framework, she expressed: “Today we reaffirm our culture as a bridge that unites us and strengthens us. May this meeting be only the beginning of new collaborations and may the Veracruz essence continue to conquer hearts through art, music and tradition, because Veracruz is in fashion.”
The announcement included the participation of the governor of Guanajuato, Libia García, and the Secretary of Culture of that state, Lizeth Galván Cortés.
