As part of a commitment to enhance the security and well-being of Yucatecan families, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena has overseen the delivery of 169 fully equipped patrol cars to municipalities across the state. This initiative is part of the Allies for Life Strategy, aimed at ensuring safe environments, promoting crime prevention, and reinforcing social cohesion in communities.
Governor Díaz Mena emphasized that security is a cornerstone for Yucatán’s development, and his administration will continue implementing measures to uphold the peace and tranquility that the state is known for. He highlighted that these new patrol units will bolster the operational capacity of municipal security forces, enabling them to respond more effectively to citizens’ needs.
In his address, the governor expressed gratitude to the Government of Mexico, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, for its ongoing support to Yucatán. He acknowledged that this support strengthens the foundation for a safer, fairer, and better-prepared state to face future challenges.
Accompanied by Wendy Méndez Naal, honorary president of DIF Yucatán, and Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda, head of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), Governor Díaz Mena underscored the significance of delivering 169 fully equipped units. These vehicles will enhance the municipal police forces’ operational capabilities and improve the protection of residents.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening security institutions through comprehensive strategies like the Allies for Life initiative. He urged municipal presidents to join this program, which includes providing more psychologists to schools, training police officers in human rights issues, and promoting sports and culture to keep youth away from alcohol and drugs.
Governor Díaz Mena emphasized the importance of cooperation among authorities at all levels to fulfill their responsibilities. He reiterated that public safety is a municipal responsibility, as outlined in the Constitution’s article 115, and called for teamwork to address security challenges in various districts. He assured full support from the state government and the SSP.
“Dear mayors and municipal presidents, I ask you to make this delivery the beginning of a stage of greater security for our communities. Let us use these tools with responsibility, closeness, and, above all, with the commitment to serve our people with our hearts first, because this is what characterizes Yucatán: its hard-working, supportive, and brave people,” concluded Governor Díaz Mena.
Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda, head of the SSP, highlighted the support and effort of Governor Díaz Mena’s administration in delivering these equipped vehicles. He emphasized the importance of coordination with the 106 municipalities to maintain the peace and security that characterize Yucatán.
The governor was accompanied by representatives of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, the business sector, and local and federal deputies.
