Rain, snow and wind gusts of 90 km/h in Baja California, until when will cold front 27 affect?

4

During the month of February, it is very common to see the arrival of cold fronts and air masses, entering through the Northwest and traveling through the North of Mexico. Given the characteristics of this type of phenomena and their interaction with other meteorological systems, they give way to severe weather significant for the regions they usually cover.

This Friday, the new cold front 27 and the air mass that drives it arrive in the Northwest of Mexico, in interaction with a trough and the polar jet stream, generating localized rain and showers, as well as strong gusts of wind in the north of the country for the next 24 hours. As well as the possible fall of snow and/or sleet in the mountains of the state of Baja California.

Strong winds and gusts

These effects associated with both the air mass and cold front 27 will be the most significant throughout this Friday, where winds from the west and northwest of 30 to 50 km/h with gusts of between 70 and 90 km/h are expected, in addition to the possible formation of dust storms, whirlwinds or considerable whirlwinds mainly throughout the state of Baja California.

On the other hand, winds of 20 to 30 km/h with gusts of up to 70 km/h are also expected in the Gulf of California, a condition that will favor the presence of high waves of up to 3 meters high; therefore, at Meteored, we urge boats and ships to take extreme precautions, mainly on public beaches and ports.

BC Winds and Gusts

Cold front 27 and its air mass will still be moving through the northwest and extending north of the country. They will give rise to winds of 15 to 25 km/h with gusts of 40 to 60 km/h in the Gulf of California and in much of the state of Baja California. Regarding the waves, the east will be 2 to 4 meters high on the west coast of Baja California.

For Sunday

Cold front 27 and its air mass will move over the northeast, east and southeast of Mexico, moving significantly away from Baja California and ceasing to cause significant effects.

Precipitation and temperature forecast
