By presidential mandate of Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) in Campeche has launched the “Expansion of the Special Energy Program for Agricultural Use.” This initiative aims to benefit approximately 605 production units in the region.

Francisco García Manilla, representative of “Agricultura México” in Campeche, announced that the subsidy is expected to generate savings of 47 million pesos for the agricultural sector. The program covers various crops, including corn, watermelon, citrus, vegetables, tomatoes, and squash. Campeche’s agricultural production averages 283,099.50 tons annually, with an economic impact of 6,713,370,000 pesos, according to the Agricultural and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP).

Victor Salinas Balam, General Director of Agricultural Development of the Secretariat of Agricultural Development (SDA), stated that over 100 extensionists will promote the program throughout Campeche. Victor Manuel Guillermo I. Maldonado, local director of the National Water Commission (Conagua), also participated in the announcement.

The initiative aims to reduce energy costs for farmers, improving the overall profitability and sustainability of agricultural operations in Campeche. By leveraging electric energy for agricultural use, the program seeks to enhance productivity and support local farmers.

This expansion underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering the agricultural sector and promoting sustainable energy solutions in Campeche.
