An alleged threat against Esteban Villegas Villarreal, governor of Durango, has drawn attention in the media this Friday, because supposedly ‘Los Chapitos’ would be behind the offer of a reward of up to 10 million pesos for the ‘head’ of the politician.

However, through official social networks, the Government of Durango denied threats, assuring that this news is false.

On various social networks, images on the Internet have been published an image where there is talk of a reward of 10 million pesos offered by ‘Los Chapitos’, in exchange for information that leads to the capture of the president.

The Durango government has denied that there are threats against Governor Esteban Villegas by Los Chapitos (Special)

‘Los Chapitos’ would be accusing the governor of Durango and part of his cabinet of protecting the Cabrera brothers’ faction, belonging to the Los Mayitos group, both nascent from the Sinaloa Cartel, but with different and now antagonistic lines.

In addition to offering a high reward for information on the governor, the publication also offers 2 million pesos for members of his cabinet, officials and police commanders who are involved in the protection network for Los Cabrera.

Durango government denies threats from drug traffickers
The governor of Durango has not spoken about the issue, however, through official accounts, the state government maintains that it is “Fake News”: “This is how we describe the publication in which a reward is offered in exchange for information related to Governor @EVillegasV.”

“We detected that the attached publication comes from a blog, which was later taken up by a digital media outlet,” they write on social media, but they also claim that they are electoral attacks. “These are electoral and political times, and there are people who are professional agitators; but we are not going to fall into their game.”

The government publication also makes it clear that the state leader continues with his agenda in an intense manner, but “No threats have been received against him, nor against any member of his team.”

There are various publications on social media and banners that have been posted in Sinaloa territories, which link the governor of Durango and members of his team, as part of a protection network for the Cabrera Sarabia brothers who are the ones who have control of the plaza, belonging to the group of Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada and now enemies of the sons of Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán who are nicknamed Los Chapitos, with whom they dispute the command in Durango.

Durango is an important part of drug trafficking, especially because of the Golden Triangle area, the mountainous areas with high production, and the geography that allows the passage of drugs. The Cabrera Sarabia brothers have control.
