Durango police officer exposed; did he or did he not commit an irregularity?

Social media has done it again, and has served to spread a video showing the actions of a Traffic Police officer from the Municipal Public Safety Directorate (DMSP), when he stopped a tourist family traveling in Durango territory. The material has generated a variety of comments, some against and others in favor of the agent, so the question is: did he or did he not commit an irregularity?

The video of just over three minutes has been replicated on various pages and profiles on Facebook and other social networks. It begins at the moment when the police officer approaches the family unit and introduces himself as such.

“The reason for the arrest, or the act of harassment is because of your dark windows. Allow me permission and I will ask you not to record me, for my safety,” the agent is heard saying while citizens refuse to stop taking the video, claiming to be within their rights.

The police officer explains to them that as a guarantee of payment for the infraction, he will keep the driver’s license, however, they refuse to give him this identification.

“I don’t live here, I’m here for a walk, and what you say about the dark windows, I would understand if I lived here. If you go to the United States, they will respect what you carry, because you are a tourist, you are a visitor. That is respected,” says the detained citizen.

Immediately, the security element informs him that when requesting his permit at the border, they must be told about these types of situations that they must respect; at that moment the police officer also begins to record with his cell phone.

He asks the driver for his documents again, otherwise he will continue with the infraction, or the sanction.

Although it is unknown where specifically this video was recorded, it is detected in the images that it was at one of the exits of Durango, since the highway is already visible.

The pilot and co-pilot of the unit in the DMSP’s sights got out to see what happened, as they were warned that their license plates would be taken away, but as they continued recording, this was the officer’s reaction:

“If you keep recording me, I’m going to arrest you, eh. Please stop recording, sir, otherwise I’m going to arrest you,” the municipal officer is finally heard saying, and right there, at minute 3:13, the footage ends.
