1. Oaxaca International Airport: Located in Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán, just 12 km from the city of Oaxaca, this airport is the main gateway to the state. It operates national and international flights with airlines such as Aeroméxico, Volaris, and Viva Aerobus. Key destinations include Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Tijuana.
2. Bahías de Huatulco International Airport: Considered one of the most modern and attractive airports in the country, it is located in El Zapote, Santa María Huatulco, just 12 minutes from the tourist center of Bahías de Huatulco. Airlines operating here include Aeroméxico, Volaris, Viva Aerobus, United Airlines, and Frontier Airlines. Popular domestic routes are to Mexico City, Guadalajara, Tijuana, Cancún, and Monterrey, while international destinations include Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Houston, Los Angeles, and London. The airport has three terminals: T1, Terminal A, and Terminal BO.
3. Puerto Escondido International Airport: Essential for connectivity on the Oaxacan coast, this airport serves flights from Volaris to Mexico City and Guadalajara, Viva Aerobus to Mexico City, and Aeroméxico to the capital. President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that international flights will begin in April, with additional routes to the United States and Canada expected by 2030.
4. Ixtepec National Airport: Also known as Military Air Base No. 2 “General Antonio Cárdenas Rodríguez,” it is located 12 km south of Ciudad Ixtepec, in Asunción Ixtaltepec municipality. Primarily used for military purposes, it also has a civilian ramp. Currently, Mexicana de Aviación operates the AIFA-Ixtepec-AIFA route, connecting the Isthmus of Tehuantepec with Mexico City. Aerotucán also offers flights from this airport.
Depending on your departure city, you’ll find flights to one of the four airports in Oaxaca. Main Mexican airlines, such as Volaris, Aeroméxico, and Viva Aerobus, facilitate travel to Huatulco and Puerto Escondido airports.
