Before the end of Rubén Rocha Moya’s government term, Mazatlán will see the addition of a new Riu hotel, featuring over 800 rooms. This announcement was made by the Secretary of Economy of the State, Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas.

Velarde Cárdenas emphasized that this development will significantly increase the number of hotel rooms in the municipality, which is crucial for accommodating the influx of visitors, especially during peak holiday seasons.

Last week, the new lodging center received authorization for the State of Sinaloa Tax Promotion Certificate (Ceprofie). The Riu hotel is set to be one of the most luxurious in the country.

The Secretary of Economy highlighted that investors have strong confidence in Mazatlán, as evidenced by the commitment of Riu. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Riu played a pivotal role in supporting other hotels within the international hotel group in the municipality.

While the exact cost of the investment was not disclosed, Velarde Cárdenas mentioned that the hotel will be located in the Cerritos beach area, near another lodging center in the same zone.

This new addition is expected to enhance Mazatlán’s appeal as a top tourist destination, providing visitors with more accommodation options and supporting the local economy.
