Less than five months before thousands of faithful set out on the journey to the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City, the Diocese of Querétaro is moving forward with the organization of the 135th Pilgrimage on Foot to Tepeyac, an event deeply rooted in the Catholic tradition of the region.
As part of the preparation, on February 8, the diocesan drawing of pilgrims was held in Amealco, while on February 22 and 23, the Guadalupe Congress and the diocesan drawing of pilgrims will take place, where the order of participation of the deaneries will be defined.
The drawing is a key moment in the organization, since it establishes the structure with which the contingents of pilgrims will advance on the journey of more than 300 kilometers from Querétaro to Mexico City.
This year, the deaneries will know their position in the march during the event that will take place in the state capital, where spiritual and logistical issues will also be addressed at the Guadalupe Congress.
In the case of women, the deanery of Santa Rosa de Lima will lead the column, followed by the Holy Family, Our Lady of Remedies, Saint Joseph, Saint James the Apostle, Saint Juan de Los Lagos, Saint Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Saint John the Baptist, Our Lady of Sorrows of Soriano and Saint Michael the Archangel.
Also present will be the deanery of the Lord of the Beatitudes, Saint Peter and Saint Paul, Our Lady of Pueblito, Saint Sebastian Martyr, Jesus the Good Shepherd, Our Lady of Peace, Saint Peter the Apostle, Mystery of Pentecost and Saint Junípero Serra, thus completing a total of 20 deaneries.
The Guadalupe Congress, which will take place on the same date as the drawing of pilgrims, will serve as a space for reflection and spiritual preparation for those who will undertake the walk to the Basilica of Guadalupe. This event brings together the faithful and organizers to strengthen the religious commitment and the logistics of the pilgrimage.
The annual pilgrimage to Tepeyac is one of the most important manifestations of faith in the Diocese of Querétaro, with thousands of pilgrims traveling hundreds of kilometers on foot to Mexico City. The meticulous organization of the route and the order of the contingents is a key element to guarantee the safety and coordination of all participants.
With the definition of the order of departure for both women and men, the Catholic community of Querétaro advances in the preparation of this centuries-old tradition, reaffirming its devotion and commitment to the Virgin of Guadalupe.
