One person was killed and 14 others were injured in an armed attack against the son of Tey Gutiérrez, mayor of Villa de Álvarez.

In a press release, the state prosecutor’s office said that the attack occurred in the Burócratas neighborhood, when armed civilians broke into the Women’s Parade.

Local media identified Carlos Ruvalcaba, the mayor’s son, as the target of the armed men.

Security elements assigned to Ruvalcaba retreated the attack, which left one bodyguard dead and 14 people injured, including three minors.

The prosecutor’s office stated that all the injured people were taken to hospitals for medical attention. The mayor’s son was one of the injured, although he is out of danger.

Currently, the prosecutor’s office is carrying out expert work and has begun investigative work to clarify the events.

Through her social networks, Tey Gutiérrez regretted what happened and expressed her solidarity with the injured people and the family of the person who lost his life.

However, the mayor did not refer to the allegations that her son had been the target of the armed subjects.

Gutiérrez assumed the municipal presidency in 2021 and in the 2024 elections she achieved reelection as a PAN-PRI-PRD candidate to continue three years in the city council.
