Volaris Costa Rica, the ultra-low-cost airline operating in Central and South America, Mexico, and the United States, has announced three new international routes connecting San José, Costa Rica, with Miami and Orlando, Florida, as well as Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico. With these additions, Volaris Costa Rica now offers eight international routes from Costa Rica.

The new direct flights are already available for booking, with fares starting at US$99.00 each way to Miami and Orlando. Flights to Tulum start at US$54.00 from San José and US$70.00 from Tulum to San José.

This expansion is part of Volaris’ strategy to enhance connectivity between Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States, offering low fares to key destinations that promote economic, social, and cultural exchanges.

The new San José to Tulum route is a significant milestone, strengthening tourism and cultural exchange between Costa Rica and Mexico. Tulum is a popular tourist destination known for its natural beauty and culture, while Costa Rica is renowned for ecotourism and adventure activities.

Miami and Orlando are highly popular destinations for Costa Ricans and Central Americans. The new routes will make it easier for tourists from Florida to visit Costa Rica at affordable rates, boosting tourism in both directions. Florida’s commercial and financial importance will also facilitate the exchange of goods, services, and investments.

This expanded range of destinations is expected to increase visitor numbers to Costa Rica, boosting its economy and strengthening ties with Mexico.

Ronny Rodríguez, Director of Corporate Development and Sustainability at Volaris, stated, “This increase in direct routes to Miami, Orlando, and Tulum reaffirms Volaris’ commitment to Costa Rica, offering our customers the best travel opportunities at the best rates. We thank the Directorate of Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Tourism, and AERIS for their support in increasing our operations to eight direct international routes.”

William Rodríguez, Minister of Tourism, expressed, “We are pleased to announce the increase in Volaris flights from Guadalajara and the new routes to Tulum, Miami, and Orlando. This connectivity allows us to attract more tourists to Costa Rica, enhancing our position as a destination.”

Ricardo Hernández, General Director of AERIS Holding, added, “The expansion of air connectivity with Volaris’ new routes reinforces Juan Santamaría International Airport as a strategic hub, providing efficient and accessible travel options. We appreciate Volaris’ trust in Costa Rica and reaffirm our commitment to promoting connectivity and sustainable tourism development.”

Volaris Costa Rica has also increased the frequency of its San José to Guadalajara route, from two to four weekly flights, due to high demand.

Volaris recommends booking in advance through its official channels: the Volaris website, app, and authorized travel agencies.
