A total of 388 Mexicans have been deported by air from the United States to Chiapas in the last three days, according to the National Institute of Migration.

This Saturday, the third flight arrived at the Tapachula International Airport with 182 compatriots, reported Francisco Garduño, head of INM.

The Global Airlines aircraft landed around 11:40 a.m. from El Paso, Texas. Yesterday, a flight arrived with 84 Mexicans and on Thursday there were 122.

“The government is doing its job, it is receiving them with affection, kindness and processing their CURP, their attention, their credential, everything they need,” he said.

He added that they are also allowed to speak by phone with their relatives and they are given a Welfare card with 2,500 pesos so they can get to their states of origin and in exceptional cases they are helped to buy a plane ticket.

Garduño said that in each state the INM offices are attentive at the bus terminals for the arrival of deported Mexicans.

He added that in the country there are five airports authorized to receive Mexicans deported from the United States, including AIFA, Villahermosa, Toluca, Cuernavaca and Guadalajara.

Garduño admitted that bringing deportees to the southern border even when they are from states in the center and north of the country is a message from the U.S. and Mexican governments to inhibit migration.

“But we are attending to our countrymen, they are returning home, some with sadness, melancholy, others with the dream of seeing their families, others with tears, with frustration,” he said.
