According to the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS), Guanajuato is one of the six states where the largest number of stolen vehicles are concentrated, not to mention that, during the last year, this crime increased throughout the state.
In its latest report on road safety and theft, AMIS reported which are the states with the highest incidence of thefts of insured vehicles, mentioning first that, from 2023 to 2024, 62,867 stolen units were recorded.
In addition to this, there are six states that concentrate up to 63 percent of the stolen insured units, within which Guanajuato occupies fifth place.

Michoacán, with 2,391
Although these figures may seem small, AMIS explained that, at the national level, the percentage of the vehicle fleet that is insured is very low.
Regarding the state of Guanajuato, only 25.9 percent of vehicles have insurance, according to data from the association.
