The Los Cabos Tourism Trust (Fiturca) presented its public report for the year 2024, which highlights the positive effects of tourism promotion on the economic and social growth of the local community. Thanks to an effective promotion strategy, each peso invested in promoting the destination has generated an economic impact 323 times greater, which has strengthened the development of the region.
In 2019, the average nightly rate was $286 dollars; by 2024, this amount increased to $481 dollars. As for visitor spending per day, with an average stay of 6.1 nights, it was $6,367, a thousand pesos more than last year. This indicates that tourists visiting Los Cabos deeply value their experience. It also highlights that more than 60% of visitors participated in nature-related activities, while 16% dedicated themselves to exploring local culture and gastronomy.
This positive impact was driven by an active campaign in eleven priority markets: the United States, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Australia, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany, and Japan. As a result, nearly 3.8 million visitors arrived in Los Cabos during 2024. Although a slight decrease in the total number was observed compared to the previous year, the economic impact per visitor experienced a notable increase.
“It continues to be a great success to have five tourism promotion trusts in Baja California Sur, including Fiturca. This has allowed us to compete and remain on the global scale,” said the state’s Undersecretary of Tourism and Economy, Fernando Ojeda.
Connectivity has also been key to this growth, with more than 572 weekly flights from 32 American destinations, 11 Canadian, 16 national, and one in Germany. This consolidates Los Cabos as the third best connected destination in Mexico. It is important to highlight an 81% increase in the arrival of visitors via private aviation compared to 2019, which represents more than 93 thousand tourists.
Rodrigo Esponda, general director of Fiturca, emphasized that “Los Cabos is committed to tourism that not only encourages the arrival of travelers, but also promotes local well-being and development.”
“A significant percentage of the community perceives the benefits derived from tourism activity in the region, which has led to the creation of numerous jobs and the fulfillment of 71% of the population with the corresponding labor benefits,”
