The uncertainty of tariffs and the application of taxes on steel and aluminum has slowed the movement of cargo in the port of Veracruz, said the president of the Association of Customs Agents, Marco Sansores.
He said that in January they moved about 2.2 million tons, compared to 2.6 million in the same period last year, which is a reflection of the uncertainty that exists.
He said that about 400 thousand tons stopped moving through the port of Veracruz.
The impact is greater in exports because there are purchases stopped, he specified.
On the other hand, regarding the new customs, he said that there is still no date for its inauguration; the civil work is finished but the equipment is missing.
