US Embassy announces that all deported Mexicans are now going to Chiapas

The United States government has implemented a new immigration policy that consists of deporting Mexican citizens directly to the southern border of Mexico, specifically in Chiapas, regardless of their state of origin. This measure aims to deter future attempts to enter the United States illegally and reduce illicit activities in the border area between Mexico and the United States.

The United States embassy in Mexico explained that this strategy, applied for the first time, seeks to keep migrants away from the northern border region, making their immediate return difficult and, therefore, discouraging new illegal crossings. However, this practice has generated controversy due to the logistical and humanitarian implications of transferring deportees to a region far from their places of origin.

Organizations defending the rights of migrants such as the Center for Human Dignity (CDH) among others, have expressed concern for the well-being of deportees, since they face significant challenges when being returned to a remote area, which complicates their reintegration and increases their vulnerability. Furthermore, this policy could overburden the resources and services available in Chiapas, an entity that already faces challenges in terms of migration due to its geographic location.

This measure is part of the actions of the US government to reinforce immigration control and responds to previous threats of implementing mass deportations of migrants. Given this scenario, the Mexican government has intensified its preparations and legal and humanitarian strategies to face the possible repercussions of these policies in its territory.

The current situation poses challenges both for the Mexican authorities and for the receiving communities in the south of the country, which must adapt to this new flow of deported people and guarantee adequate conditions for their return and reintegration.
