During the early hours of Monday, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Nuevo Leon confirmed that Luis Abraham T.G., a man with American nationality who had been deprived of his freedom on the Monterrey-Reynosa highway, was found alive.

Through a brief statement, the corporation highlighted that the discovery was possible thanks to the intervention of the Specialized Anti-Kidnapping Prosecutor’s Office, the State Investigation Agency, the Civil Force, the National Guard and the National Defense Secretariat (Defense).

After finding him, investigators took Luis Abraham T.G. to a medical unit, where they confirmed that he is in good health. “The circumstances and conditions in which he was deprived of his freedom are being verified,” can be read in the official report.

The information available so far allows us to know that Luis Abraham is a young man with dual nationality (American and Mexican) resident of the municipality of Allende. On February 21, he was traveling aboard his Ram TRX truck with Nuevo Leon license plates.

The young man, who is engaged in the trade of meat products, lost contact with his family on Friday night at kilometer 114 of the Monterrey-Reynosa highway, on the border of the municipalities of China and General Bravo. He was allegedly pursued and intercepted by armed men after passing through a supposed security checkpoint.

According to data pending official confirmation, Luis Abraham was on a call with a member of his family at the time of the events. Apparently, the armed men would have approached him pretending to be ministerial agents.

Assault on Chinese citizens on the highway to Reynosa

The deprivation of liberty of Luis Abraham T.G. is the second attack committed in recent times against foreign citizens in the state of Nuevo León, since on February 12 it was announced that two men of Chinese nationality were assaulted on the same highway to Reynosa, Tamaulipas.

The victims, whose identity has been withheld, were traveling in their vehicle, a Lobo pickup truck, when several armed men intercepted them at kilometer 111. After stealing their vehicle, the robbers fled in an unknown direction.

Later, members of the General Bravo Police provided the corresponding assistance to the victims, who were not injured during the theft of their vehicle. Despite the fact that they were accompanied to file the corresponding complaint, those responsible for the incident have not been located.
