Since she was campaigning for the Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada mentioned the construction of five Cablebús Lines during her six-year term, which would be placed in different points of the capital of the country, mainly in the highest areas.
Since she assumed power, the capital’s leader has repeatedly mentioned the different routes that will be built during her administration. In recent months, she has announced the dates on which the construction of the five Lines will begin.
In 2025, the construction of three Lines of the five Cablebús routes will begin; they will be in Tlalpan, Magdalena Contreras and Álvaro Obregón. Meanwhile, in 2026, the start of works for Xochimilco and Cuajimalpa has already been confirmed.
In light of this, these aforementioned districts will be the ones to open a new Cablebús Line during this six-year term, which will benefit residents of neighborhoods, colonies and areas close to these districts who live in the highest areas and find it difficult to find public transportation.
At a press conference on February 13, Clara Brugada and various officials from the capital announced the construction of the Cablebús in the Magdalena Contreras municipality. Days before, she had met with mayors from the districts of Álvaro Obregón, Tlalpan and the latter mentioned, where she highlighted the talks for the start of the mobility projects.
Therefore, details were given about the different projects and progress in these works contemplated by the Government of Mexico City.
In the case of the Magdalena Contreras route, Brugada said that the Cablebús is not being built in one year, but in two, so that in 2027 it would be operating for the inhabitants of that district. Regarding the route, he said that they are studying where it would run, but it could reach the Mixcoac station of the Collective Transportation System (STC) of the Mexico City Metro.
He said that work will be done “now” for the start of the works, so the corresponding technical studies are currently being carried out.

But it will not be the first Line under construction and that has greater progress, since there is another route that has a high percentage for the construction stage and that could be the first one inaugurated and that is serving the public.
Which Cablebús Line is about to be built and could be the first to be inaugurated?
The Cablebús Line that would be the closest to be inaugurated would be the one from Tlalpan, in the Ajusco area to Ciudad Universitaria, in the Coyoacán municipality, according to the route proposed by capital authorities.
This, since the head of the Secretariat of Works and Services of Mexico City, Raúl Basulto Liviano, revealed the Cablebús Line that has the greatest progress in this stage of construction.
He detailed that this route will be Line 4 of this public transport, while the 5 will correspond to that of the Magdalena Contreras municipality. He specified that first it will be in Tlalpan and then in the aforementioned district.
The local official pointed out that it will be the first Line that the Secretariat of Mobility and Works and Services has to start. He said that it is currently being studied and the agencies are carrying out feasibility and cost-benefit studies, which will allow them to have what is required.
“The next line will be Line 5, which we are thinking will be, still in this analysis, a bit like Álvaro Obregón-Magdalena Contreras; it is being analyzed, we will know very soon,” said Basulto Liviano.

He stressed that the analysis of this Cablebús Line is very advanced and a final study is being concluded, which is expected to be finished in March of this year and in April the public bidding process to build Line 4 of public transport in Tlalpan would begin.
He clarified that these studies that are being carried out help to identify the traffic conditions of the stations and the columns where the system is supported, so the traffic conditions are also analyzed and reviewed, so the specific route and the location of the stations are not yet detailed.
