Our beloved Mexican Republic has a great diversity of climates associated with the various ecosystems. This wide range is reflected in the outstanding wealth of flora and fauna, which undoubtedly has a close link to the wide spectrum of temperatures.
In Mexico, there are climates that range from tropical – subtropical, with relatively stable temperature values throughout the year, to those that are extreme: cold – freezing in winter and extremely hot in summer.
If you are considering taking a trip to any of the regions of the national territory, you should take into account that, despite the differences that exist according to the type of ecosystem, it can be said that Mexico is a country with moderate average temperatures throughout the year.
Related to the above, in the Northwest of the country, for example, it is characterized by having a type of desert climate, influenced by the so-called California current, which is a cold and dry ocean mass. Here there are desert and mountain destinations, which are worth visiting during the rainy season or in spring.
Various travel agencies, specialized in Mexican destinations, explain that the winter months in Europe, for tourism in that region of the world, are the ideal time to travel to our country, if what you are looking for is to relax on a beach.
These go from November to April. During these months, rainfall tends to decrease and temperatures, on average, tend to be mild. In addition, in most beach destinations, the temperature range is between 22 and 31 degrees Celsius.
It can be said that the range of these values would imply a somewhat “spring-like” vacation. The conditions you can find are somewhat warm, without falling into the exaggeratedly hot, with an ideal temperature to get to know the great wealth of biodiversity and culture that the national territory offers.
Pleasant conditions
In a good part of the country, the temperature range at night can be found between 15 to 20 °C. It is important to clarify that, depending on the region of the country you are looking to visit, the particular conditions you will find will be there.
In other words, if you are looking for beach destinations, between the months of November and April will be an ideal time, since most of the destinations are even less crowded. Meanwhile, in a good part of Northern Mexico, this winter time tends to be cold to freezing.
Its temperature values are reflected on the thermometer scale with minimums that are easily below -5°C, especially in the high parts of the mountainous regions. So, if you are looking to escape to a cold area, inside a cabin and under a fireplace, this may be a good time.
Rainy season
The time of year when rain occurs in Mexico includes the months of May, June, July, August, September and October. If you prefer humid days and more affordable rates, this period will surely be your preference.
There is a wide range of destinations: beach, desert, mountains, cities or archaeological sites, where the ideal time to vacation will be defined by the weather conditions.
And, according to experts, it is explained that during the rainy season there is more space on beaches, hotels and tourist monuments. In this sense, another great advantage of this time is that the vegetation of the area will look majestic.
Also take into account that within the rainy season, another type of meteorological phenomenon that usually impacts mainly beach areas are tropical cyclones. This season is between the months of June and until the end of November.
Mexican Caribbean
One of the favorite destinations for international tourism, including European and North American travelers, is undoubtedly the Mexican Caribbean. Travel agencies promote it widely, among other reasons, because it has a fairly pleasant temperature range.
It is said that temperatures usually remain slightly below 30 °C, feeling hot during the day and its value is usually below 20 °C at night, particularly between the months of November to April, which I previously explained to you is the ideal annual period.
In addition, there is a significant variety of hotels that offer the all-inclusive modality, where you will not have the need to travel, unless you are interested in knowing the important cultural and biodiversity wealth that the area has, with its archaeological zones and reserves.
The best time of the year?
In short, depending on the destination you are looking to explore will be the time of year that I recommend you schedule. There is a wide range of destinations: beach, desert, mountains, cities or archaeological sites, where the ideal time to vacation will be defined by the weather conditions.
The ideal time to visit or explore a forested area, such as the Copper Canyon in northern Mexico, will be between the months of June and November, where temperatures are less cold, although it is the height of the rainy season.
Meanwhile, if you want to escape the cold and snow, it is highly recommended to look for a beach destination, where you will not run the risk of hurricane season or heavy rain; explore the possibility of the Caribbean or the wide variety of accommodations, both in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Pacific.
