Baja California authorities have confirmed that Grupo Firme has protection after receiving threats in Tijuana, which led to the cancellation of their presentation at the Mazatlán Carnival 2025.
The Secretary of Citizen Security of Baja California, Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, stated that they have been provided with protection and constant monitoring. “We are in contact with them and they have been provided with security, in addition to being informed that if they need anything, we will be carrying out preventive tours in the places where these people normally appear,” said the official.
For its part, the Attorney General of the State of Baja California (FGE) established communication with the Attorney General of Sinaloa to investigate the case. Attorney General María Elena Andrade confirmed that the discovery of a human head in the La Gloria neighborhood in Tijuana is being analyzed, which was left next to a narco-banner addressed to the musical group.
The Specialized Prosecutor for Crimes against Life, Miguel Ángel Gaxiola, indicated that there was no history of previous threats against the band. “We are closely following up, we did not have a history of any threats, we are looking at the identity of that person who appeared as a victim,” he said.
In addition, the government of Baja California Sur offered protection to Eduin Caz and the rest of the group, ensuring that their safety is a priority after the threats.
Cancellation of the concert in Mazatlán
After these events, Grupo Firme announced the cancellation of its presentation at the Mazatlán Carnival 2025, scheduled for March 1. In a statement published on social media, the band reported:
“We deeply regret to inform you that the presentation of Grupo Firme for this March 1 at the Mazatlán Carnival is canceled.”
They also expressed that the decision was made thinking of their work team and their followers. “The well-being of those who have accompanied us on the road: our family, which is you, our fans, is and always will be the most important thing. We hope to be able to meet again soon to sing, celebrate and continue making history together,” they added in the statement shared by Music Vip.
In light of the events, singer Julio Preciado spoke out about the growing violence in Tijuana and Sinaloa, following threats directed at regional Mexican artists such as Grupo Firme, Natanael Cano and Fuerza Régida. During a tribute at the Coliseo Arena in Guadalajara, where he was recognized among images of his favorite wrestlers, the performer expressed his concern about the insecurity affecting the music industry.

“Personally, I think the government is losing control of this situation. Who is to blame for the artists? Whoever it is. I am not saying that this is something against Grupo Firme in particular, but now, if you sang a song or mentioned someone, it is already a reason for them not to let you work,” said Preciado.
“Natanael Cano has already been threatened in Tijuana. Fuerza Régida has also been threatened and many other artists have been prohibited from playing in the city. Today (Tuesday) they left a head on a bridge so that Grupo Firme does not perform. I do not know where we are going to get with this. The situation is very complicated. This affects many families,” he said.
Replacement in the Mazatlán Carnival
After the cancellation of Grupo Firme, the Mazatlán Carnival lineup underwent modifications. On March 1, in its place, Pepe Aguilar, Ángela Aguilar and Leonardo Aguilar will perform. In addition, the 90’s Pop Tour will replace Jorge Medina and Josi Cuen, who also cancelled their participation in the event.
