At least ten shopping centers in Puebla and neighboring municipalities, with a tourist vocation, are preparing with hoteliers and restaurateurs a campaign of promotions and discounts to attract vacationers.
The executive director of the Association of Shopping Centers of Puebla (Acecop), Andrés De La Luz Espinoza, with 74 affiliated complexes, explained that the sector seeks to offer a more pleasant stay to tourists, especially from the south-southeast of the country, who make up the largest number of visitors.
However, he said that they also report tourism from Bajío and the State of Mexico, which has been on the rise in the last four years.
Shopping centers in Puebla want more tourism in 2025
He mentioned that this campaign of discounts and promotions was discussed with the State Secretariat of Economic Development and Labor to achieve landing it in the first months.
He made it clear that tourism service providers are in favor of this campaign, since it will bring benefits to both them and local business owners in shopping centers.
He indicated that they are also waiting for the response from some brands that have stores in the shopping complexes, about offering some promotion.
It impacts the tourist stay
De La Luz Espinoza was confident that this proposal will materialize, since it will positively impact the tourist stay and that in no other state is there an alliance of its kind between businesses and tourism service providers.
The above, he said, is part of the expectations of the Acecop in 2025 and that they will be completed with investment announcements to build new shopping centers or expand the infrastructure of existing ones.
He pointed out that, due to confidentiality issues, he cannot give details, even in the amount of investment, “but it is a clear sign that Puebla is attractive for tourists and investors in commercial developments.”
The director of Acecop reiterated that the shopping center sector can still grow. For this reason, he said, it is important to promote tourism to these complexes that have become part of the attractions in Angelopolis and neighboring municipalities.
He commented that security is also a key issue that authorities must take into account to improve, especially in the case of tourists, since guaranteeing this condition will imply that visitors help promote Puebla.
