The economy of the state of Sinaloa showed a rebound during the penultimate quarter of 2024, driven by its services sector, according to figures reported by INEGI.

The latest data published on the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE), which offers an overview of the economic evolution of the country’s federal entities, the entity’s productive activity expanded at a quarterly rate in the July-September period of 1.8 percent, recovering from the 2.3 percent drop in the previous quarter, in the figures adjusted for seasonality.

With this advance, it exceeded the average of the country’s economy, which in the period reported a quarterly advance of 0.9 percent.

The above was the result of a quarterly growth of 2.8 percent in the activities corresponding to the distribution of goods and services, a variation that placed Sinaloa within the top 10 of the states that showed the highest performance in the tertiary sector in the reference period.

In addition, according to data from the Council for Economic Development of Sinaloa (CODESIN), between the months of January and September of the previous year, said sector was driven by a significant growth in trade of 5.6 percent, as well as by educational services, which increased 3.4 percent, the transport, mail and storage sector advanced 2.5 percent, while professional, scientific and technical services reported a positive change of 2.7 percent.

Information from the state government reveals that the services and tourism sector represents 67 percent of the state GDP.

In fact, of the 1.45 million workers registered in Sinaloa at the end of last year, 65 percent were concentrated in the service sector, 22 percent in industry and 13 percent in agricultural activities, according to records from the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE).
