Mexican law enforcement arrested a California man attempting to enter the country with a significant arsenal of weapons linked to the Sinaloa cartel, authorities announced on Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Scott Harvey Daniel Lee Thompson, was apprehended at the “El Chaparral” border crossing in Tijuana, Baja California. Thompson’s vehicle drew attention due to its heavily tinted windows, prompting security officers to request an inspection.
During the inspection, authorities discovered three rifles, two handguns, 19 magazines, over 2,000 rounds of various ammunition, three telescopic sights, and a telescope inside the vehicle. According to Mexican officials, both Thompson and the seized weapons are associated with the “Los Rusos” faction of the Sinaloa cartel.
