There will be no fences to protect the emblematic buildings of the Historic Center of the city during the 8M demonstrations, reported the head of the Municipal Public Services Department, Emiliano González Martínez, who pointed out that it is a free march and the instruction from the mayor is to respect the demonstration.
He explained that after the march, an Urban Cleaning team gathers at the place where the demonstrations took place, to support the cleaning since water bottles are left on the street and it is necessary to maintain order in the area, since it is the Historic Center of the city.
On the subject of graffiti, he pointed out that in the days after the march occurs, they can only attend to some areas where graffiti was made, however, since these are historical monuments that can only be intervened by experts, it is the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), those in charge of carrying out the cleaning.
It should be remembered that in 2023 a controversy arose regarding the cleaning of the frontispiece of the Minor Basilica Cathedral, since according to the complaint made by the INAH against municipal Public Services, the use of inappropriate methods led to irreparable damage, however the municipal official himself exonerated the workers of the agency.
“We only go to the cleaning with Urban Cleaning, it is what corresponds to us,” he said after pointing out that it is always important to contribute in favor of a march that carries a meaning like this.
In addition to this, the municipal agency will place badges alluding to the commemoration of International Women’s Day, with purple bows which symbolize the struggle of women, while in the case of the expenses generated by the repairs that must be carried out in the face of 8M, they are not quantifiable when compared to the life of a partner, friend, daughter, wife, or mother.
