25 people accused of extortion in Guanajuato arrested; among them an operator and the criminal leader

A total of 25 people allegedly linked to extortion acts were arrested in Guanajuato. Among the captured people is a man identified as the leader of the criminal group, as well as an operator and one of the main negotiators.

Gerardo Antonio “N”, alias El Chuki, is identified as one of the main operators of the criminal network, while Ernesto Ulises “N” would be the leader of the criminal group in Irapuato.

In the actions that led to the arrest of the alleged criminal leader, Jesús Ricardo “N”, alias El Bombero, as well as Rosa María “N” were also arrested.

“In parallel, in the Villas del Romeral neighborhood of Celaya, a special operation allowed the location and capture of BRAYAN JOSÉ “N”, identified as the main negotiator of the extortion network. This individual was in charge of receiving calls from the victims and coordinating the collection of the extortions,” the report highlights.

A complaint by a merchant alerted the authorities about threats in a written document in which he was required to call a telephone number and give money to receive “protection.” After this, the agents were able to identify patterns in the actions, even when the demands were not met, there were gunshots against some properties.

After the arrest of El Chuki, Eduardo “N” was captured. This arrest led to several searches and more arrests.

The searches were carried out in the municipalities of Irapuato, León, Celaya and San Francisco del Rincón, entities where the criminal cell apparently operated. The result of the searches was the seizure of five vehicles, two firearms, a pair of tactical helmets, hundreds of doses of drugs (of which the type and weight were not detailed), chargers, cell phones, as well as more than 43 thousand pesos and 134 dollars.

One of the arrests highlighted by the FGE of Guanajuato is that of Brayan José “N”, a man who apparently dedicated himself to receiving calls from victims and coordinating the collection of extortion payments, in addition to being the main negotiator of the extortion network.

María Luisa “N” and Alejandra Janet “N” were captured in the same place as the aforementioned man. The women were carrying a firearm, magazines, tactical equipment, drugs, a motorcycle and cell phones.

Following searches in 22 properties, Raul “N”, Lorena Patricia “N”, Adam Anastacio “N”, Juan Diego “N”, Juan Mauro “N”, Christian Antonio “N”, Luis Alberto “N”, Magdalena de la Soledad “N”, Alessandro “N”, Stefano Ervin “N”, Gabriela “N”, Milagros Alejandra “N”, Karla Michelle “N”, Alicia Guadalupe “N”, Felix “N”, Edgar Francisco “N” and Maria de la Luz Brenda “N” were arrested.
