Elisa Haro Ruiz, head of the Durango Tourism Secretariat, reported that talks are already underway with the Treasury to obtain federal support and thus attract local and foreign producers.
“The idea is that the Federal Government can exempt or, at least, reduce certain taxes for those who decide to film in Durango. For its part, the State Government already exempts the taxes that correspond to it and provides all the facilities to producers who seek to film in our state,” explained Haro Ruiz.
She also noted that they have been working with the Treasury for the last three months on a scheme that benefits Durango and that they hope to have positive news soon.
More flights and tourism promotion
On the other hand, Haro Ruiz indicated that negotiations are also being held with airlines to increase Durango’s air connectivity. In particular, they are seeking to establish a new route to Mexico City with the airline Viva Aerobús.
However, the airline has shown greater interest in opening a flight to Monterrey first, which would add a second option along with the route that TAR has been operating for almost two years.
Regarding the tourist promotion leading up to Easter, the Ministry of Tourism took advantage of the Mazatlán Carnival to invite the people of Sinaloa to visit Durango. In addition, promotional campaigns will be carried out in neighboring states such as Chihuahua, Coahuila and Zacatecas.
It is also planned to take the promotion to Mexico City and Jalisco, highlighting the Ricardo Castro Festival as the anchor event of Easter in Durango.
