Carlos Salvador Abreu Domínguez, General Coordinator of the Business Seedbed for the Development of Mexico, announced that due to the water shortage, many companies have not stayed in the state.
In an interview, he said that the lack of water has caused many investments not to come to the state since previous administrations have not given companies the opportunity to invest in the state, so they have gone to Hidalgo, Tlaxcala and Puebla and that investment.
“It could have stayed here, it could have generated wealth, employment, taxes, in favor of the state,” he said.
Some of these companies are VW, which settled in Puebla, then AUDI also arrived and between yes and no, it also stayed in Puebla, each one of these companies does not arrive alone since with them 300 to 350 more companies arrive since they are the ones that sell the components of the cars.
Currently, it is a great opportunity for the mayors of the region to be able to generate a metropolitan project, since each municipality has its own problem, so they have to integrate a very ambitious project.
Municipalities such as Xalapa, Coatepec, Emiliano Zapata, Banderilla, must look at the issue of water because it affects everyone since the population has grown but not the water supply.
Regarding the transfer of water from the Pánuco River to the north of the country, he said that, at the republic level, there is enough water but it is not well distributed, there is water in the subsoil and wells have to be made to extract it, but there is enough water only poorly distributed.
He said that the legislators of Veracruz have fallen asleep since in the two previous legislatures they have not looked at the issue of water, they have not come up with an initiative that says that in the 212 municipalities, the new residential developments, industrial zones that are going to be built should put in place the rainwater training system, something so simple.
He gave as an example the northern states that have already done so, the question is why it has not been done in Veracruz, “this is a job that does not cost more than making a minute to review well how the regulations are.”
Finally, he pointed out that if the 212 municipalities work on the situation of rainwater collection, the problem will be resolved in a very substantial way, and the deputies have a good team of advisors and must push forward the law for the issue of rainwater collection.
