The Riviera Maya Hotel Association (AHRM) and the Municipality of Solidaridad agreed to work together to address priority issues that allow maintaining the competitiveness and tourist appeal of the destination.
The vice president of the group, Andrea Lotito, reported that they held a meeting with the Secretariat of Economic Development and Investment Attraction, as well as with the Municipal Secretariat of Tourism, to analyze different concerns related to the operation and functioning of lodging establishments and tourist services, especially in the Playa del Carmen area.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction, Antón Augusto Bojórquez Mackay; William Guerra Alpuche, advisor to the Secretariat of Tourism, and a group of associates of the AHRM.
Among the issues discussed was the issue of noise and extended hours in entertainment establishments, such as nightclubs and consumption centers, as well as strategies to streamline the provision of public services in the city.
Other aspects discussed were the benefits that the approval of the Ciudad de Playa del Carmen brand will bring to the destination and the respective promotional campaign that will be carried out this year to strengthen its presence in the national and international market.
“A productive meeting that reaffirmed the commitment of hoteliers and the municipal government to hold regular meetings that allow us to evaluate and improve the provision of tourist services for the benefit of the large number of visitors who come to the destination each year,” said Lotito.
Riviera Maya hotels have increased their occupancy, surpassing the figures for the first days of January with 95.1% in 57,108 hotel rooms available on January 1, while in the same period in 2024 they reached 92.2% with 56,380 hotel rooms.
