The six-day Mazatlán Carnival resulted in a staggering 2,438 tons of garbage, according to Public Services Director Karla Camacho Guzmán.

– Hotel and Restaurant Zone: 1,616 tons of waste were collected.

– Olas Altas: 677 tons were gathered.

– Del Mar Avenue Parades: 155 tons of waste accumulated over two parades.

Under normal circumstances, the city collects around 700 tons of garbage daily. The carnival generated an additional 400 tons of waste per day.

Camacho Guzmán emphasized ongoing efforts to manage the garbage, with further weigh-ins at the dump pending. The Parks and Gardens and Urban Cleaning departments were actively involved, deploying 230 workers daily and increasing to 330 during the Sunday and Tuesday parades. They undertook daily tasks such as washing monuments, sidewalks in Olas Altas, street corners, squares, and viewing points, continuing the efforts even post-carnival.

Authorities are committed to ensuring the city’s cleanliness as they wrap up the extensive cleanup operations following the festive event.
