This week, in the framework of the commemoration of International Women’s Day, various cultural and health events are taking place in Chiapas to honor and make visible the work of women in different fields.

The Carlos Jurado Cultural Center in Tuxtla Gutiérrez has prepared a special day dedicated to women and art. The 1st Conversation of Women and Visual Artists, Habitadas, will feature the participation of various visual artists from Chiapas, who will share their experiences, challenges and realities within their creative process. This event seeks to make visible the work of creative women, generate a space for feedback and discussion on how they inhabit and transform spaces through art. In addition, a Multidisciplinary Collective Art Exhibition will be inaugurated, which will show the diverse artistic expressions of these talented artists. The event will take place on March 6 at 5:00 p.m. at the Carlos Jurado Cultural Center.

On the other hand, the State Council for Culture and the Arts of Chiapas invites you to the Presentation of the Editorial Collection “Najsakopajk”, a literary exhibition that will feature the participation of prominent Chiapas writers such as Ary Uriel, Marcelino Champo, Rosa Vázquez Jiménez, Daniel Falconi, Édgar Núñez Jiménez and José Natarén. The event will be moderated by Lyz Sáenz. This presentation will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about local literature and the works of authors from the region. This event will take place on March 7 at 5:00 p.m. at the MUSAC (Museum of San Cristóbal de las Casas).

Finally, in an effort to promote the comprehensive well-being of women, the Municipal Health Secretariat of San Cristóbal, through the Women’s Diagnostic Clinics East and West, has launched a free care campaign. From March 3 to 7, women will be able to access essential services such as Pap smears, colposcopy, psychological consultation, breast examination and ultrasound, dental prophylaxis, nutritional consultation and more, all with the aim of taking care of women’s health in all its facets. This campaign is available at the nearest women’s clinics.

With these events, Chiapas meaningfully celebrates women, providing spaces for art, literature and health care. Don’t miss the opportunity to participate and support the creators and your personal well-being!
