The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Oaxaca reported on Thursday that municipal police officers are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the case of four young people from Tlaxcala reported missing in the Oaxacan Coast region.
In a statement, the state prosecutor’s office said that the investigation file was opened for the crime of disappearance committed by private individuals, and also specified that, derived from the investigations carried out in coordination with the authorities of Tlaxcala, “they suggest that the incident could be related to a dispute between criminal cells.”
Since last February, two complaints have been filed for the lack of location of four people.
In one, it was reported that Angie Lizeth Pérez García and Brenda Mariel Salas Moya, who were traveling aboard a Ford Fiesta with Yucatán license plates, were last seen in Santa María Huatulco on February 27.
Following the investigations, so far, Brenda Mariel was found alive in the state of Puebla, but the authorities have not given any further information on the whereabouts of her traveling companion, Angie Lizeth.
On the other hand, the authorities said that the disappearance of Raúl Emmanuel González Lozano and Noemí Yamileth López Moratilla was also reported, who were last seen in the plaza of Zipolite, located in the municipality of San Pedro Pochutla, on February 28.
So far, the Oaxaca prosecutor’s office has not given any further information on the lines of investigation to find the whereabouts of the three young people who are still reported missing in that state.
The progress of the investigations comes after local media from Puebla and Oaxaca reported on March 3 the discovery of nine bodies with signs of violence on the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca highway, located near the municipality of San José Miahuat, where five men were outside a vehicle while the bodies of four women were found inside, and in the vicinity of the discovery the police found a bag with 16 hands, without revealing the identity of the victims.
Local reports indicate that this discovery could be linked to the disappearance of the young people mentioned by the Oaxacan prosecutor’s office and to other cases of missing persons also from Tlaxcala.
