CDMX: 800 female police officers will monitor the 8M march

The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City (CDMX) will deploy 800 female police officers to accompany the mobilizations this Saturday, March 8, in commemoration of International Women’s Day.

Through a statement, the agency specified that the police officers will provide remote support and will only intervene in the event of an emergency or contingency.

They could be joined by 400 police officers who will be in the vicinity in case their participation is required.

The officers will be identified with their uniform and will carry personal protective equipment: helmet, shield and, in some cases, fire extinguishers to deal with emergencies.

In addition, to deal with any medical emergency, the Rescue and Medical Emergency Squad (ERUM) will have 10 ambulances, 10 motorcycle ambulances and 85 paramedics available.

While the Undersecretary of Traffic Control will implement measures to facilitate the passage of the protesters and ensure pedestrian and vehicular mobility.

For its part, the Traffic Guidance Center reported the route that the march will follow, as well as the road alternatives for motorists and pedestrians.

“This Saturday, March 8, plan your route and anticipate your departure, due to the concentration of contingents at various points of Paseo de la Reforma to carry out the #8M march towards the #Zócalo,” it wrote.

Through its X account (@OVIALCDMX), the Orientation Center indicated that the route will be from the Angel of Independence to the Plancha del Zócalo capitalino.

The contingents will advance along Paseo de la Reforma Avenue, Juárez Avenue and 5 de Mayo.

The march is expected to begin at 2:00 p.m., although some groups will begin to gather at 11:30 a.m. to march an hour later.

The meeting points include the Angel of Independence, the Monument to the Revolution, the Glorieta de las Mujeres que Luchan, the Fountain of Diana Cazadora and the Monument to the Mother.

El Ovial also shared the road alternatives to avoid complications during the mobilization, among which are:

  • Circuito Interior
  • Eje 1 Norte
  • Eje 1 Oriente
  • José Ma. Izazaga
  • Avenida Chapultepec
  • Fray Servando T. de Mier

So far, there has been no information on the changes that will occur in the public transportation system of Mexico City.
