To date, five former heads of the Secretariats in Tamaulipas have been linked to proceedings for alleged acts of corruption, one of them being arrested.
The former comptroller, Elda Aurora “V”, was linked for the illicit use of powers, as well as for performing judicial or administrative functions outside her jurisdiction. To this accusation was added her link with Jesús Alberto “S”, former Secretary of Administration, for the improper award of 14 contracts for more than 8 million pesos.
While Elda Aurora has not been arrested and can continue her process in freedom, the situation of Jesús Alberto “S” is different, the former official has been accused of his failure to appear in court hearings, which resulted in an arrest warrant that has not yet been executed, since he has not been located.
In addition, he faces more accusations, such as making purchases for 125 million pesos without the proper authorization.
Another former official linked to the process is Mario “G”, former Secretary of Education, who is accused of illicit exercise of public service and embezzlement, after an agreement with an insurance company, without having the corresponding powers.
The former Secretary of Urban Development, Gilberto “E”, has been linked to the process on several occasions for various crimes related to the illicit exercise of public functions and the forgiveness of fines to extraction companies of materials.
As for Rómulo “G”, former Secretary of Social Welfare, he was the first high-level official to be arrested, he is accused of the improper contracting of food supplies for 125 million pesos and recently obtained an injunction to continue his process in freedom.
Other former officials are also under investigation, such as Alejandra “R”, former Administrative Director of the Comptroller’s Office, who was linked to the process for abusive exercise of functions.
Comptroller Norma Angélica Pedraza Melo reported that 17 complaints have been filed for alleged corruption crimes, of which 12 have been before the Attorney General’s Office and 5 before the Attorney General’s Office of Tamaulipas.
In these cases, convictions have been obtained and part of the mismanaged money has been recovered, as in the case of public works, with a recovered amount of 1.27 million pesos.
