Early Monday morning, a passenger bus collided with a tractor-trailer carrying fuel at kilometer 153 of the Velardeña community, on the León Guzmán-Cuencamé highway. The impact left 15 people dead, including the tractor-trailer driver.

According to information from Civil Protection of Lerdo, Durango, 24 people were traveling on the bus, in addition to two drivers and a person in charge of the unit. Only 10 passengers managed to survive, of whom several were transferred to different hospitals to receive medical attention.

Identification of victims and injured
So far, two of the 12 deceased passengers have been identified:
- Alma Liliana Chairez López
- Yolanda Ávila García, 62 years old
Of the injured, six were transported by their own means, while another four received care at the General Hospital of Cuencamé:
- David Raymundo Solís, 41 years old
- Jaime Luis Sánchez Martínez, 39 years old
- Marisol Mendiola Ávila, 34 years old
- Jorge Alejandro Sida, 32 years old
According to official reports, the bus came from McAllen, Texas, bound for the city of Durango, while the tractor-trailer was traveling in the opposite direction, from Durango to Torreón.
Authorities continue with investigations to determine the causes of the accident and proceed with the identification of the rest of the victims.
