As part of the Original Project, promoted by the Federal Government, artisan gatherings were announced during the morning press conference, with San Miguel de Allende as one of the venues for this year.
To promote Mexico’s cultural richness and defend original creative communities in 2025, a public call was made for artisans to be part of the federal project.
As part of the program, gatherings on textile art, natural fibers, natural dyes, and ceramics will be held, where creators can gather in assemblies and events on handicraft production.
San Miguel de Allende will host a ceramic gathering
Original is an ongoing cultural movement promoted by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico. The purpose of this project is to raise awareness about the value of artisanal work and the rights of collective property.
As part of the 2025 efforts to promote and reflect on the region’s handicraft production, the Guanajuato Ceramics Gathering will be held in San Miguel de Allende from September 11 to 14, 2025.

This was announced by Marina Núñez Bespalova, Undersecretary of Cultural Development, during the morning press conference on Friday, March 14. These were the events announced by Original:
June 12: Inauguration of Casa Original
June 12-15: Utilitarian Art Gathering, Mexico City
August 28-30: Natural Dye Gathering, Cuernavaca
September 11-14: Ceramics Gathering, San Miguel de Allende
October 16-19: Mexican Textile Art Gathering. Mérida
November 13-16: Mexican Textile Art Gathering. Tijuana
November 27-30: Mexican Textile Art Gathering. Mexico City
How to participate in the 2025 artisan gatherings?
According to information provided by the Undersecretary of Culture, the first call for traditional artisans to participate in the Natural Fibers Gathering in Mexico City from May 15-18 will be released in April.
For the other gatherings, it is recommended that you stay tuned for details that will be announced soon in order to participate in the assemblies and forums. For those wishing to attend, information will also be released later.
