Mayor of Tepeji del Río denies protecting criminals
The president of Tepeji del Río, Tania Valdez Cuéllar, described the accusations made against her and the municipal Public Security commanders, which were posted on 15 banners placed at various points in the district, as “political attacks” and “false.”

In an interview, the councilor revealed that, based on the investigations they have conducted so far, they suspect who may have been responsible for the banners placed in Tepeji, which, she insisted, were politically motivated and aimed at destabilizing her government. She indicated that she has filed the corresponding complaint.

She maintained that Tepeji does not negotiate with criminals, as claimed in the messages, and condemned the attempts to tarnish her name and that of some officials.

“The people of Tepeji know my origins, they know what family I come from, and they know that what matters most to us is working for their safety,” she said.

Therefore, she affirmed that the safety of the municipality and its citizens is entirely under her responsibility, following the departure of Enrique Romero Alcántara from the municipal Public Security Secretariat due to lack of results.
