Five people originally from Tlaxcala, reported missing in the Oaxaca Coast region, were found dead in an abandoned car in the state of Puebla.

This discovery, which occurred on March 2, 2025, triggered a joint operation between the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) and various federal and state agencies. This operation included a search of Santa Cruz Huatulco Municipal Police facilities and the seizure of their weapons.

According to information provided by the FGEO, the operation was carried out as part of the investigations related to the disappearance and subsequent homicide of the victims.

The search warrants, authorized by a Control Judge, allowed authorities to intervene at various locations in Santa Cruz Huatulco, including the municipal police headquarters.

The operational deployment, carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense (Defense), the Ministry of the Navy, the National Guard, and the State Police, had as one of its main objectives the disarming of the Santa Cruz Huatulco Municipal Police officers.

The handguns and long weapons, as well as other ballistic weapons, were placed under the custody of the authorities for analysis in the context of the investigations.

Furthermore, during the search of the police station, documents related to the events under investigation were seized. Interviews were also conducted with municipal police officers as part of the ministerial proceedings led by the FGEO.

Coordination between the FGEO and the prosecutors’ offices of Tlaxcala and Puebla led to the location of three of the individuals reported missing in the Oaxaca Coast region.

According to reports, A. L. P. G., a woman last seen on February 27, 2025, in Santa María Huatulco, and R. E. G. L. and N. Y. L. M., a man and woman who disappeared on February 28, 2025, on Zipolite Beach in San Pedro Pochutla, were identified among the victims.

The other two individuals, J. A. M. C. and G. G. C. V., also originally from Tlaxcala, had been reported missing to the Oaxaca State Commission for the Search for Persons.

Their bodies were found along with those of the other victims in an abandoned vehicle near the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca Highway, in the municipality of San José Miahuatlán, Puebla, a few meters from the Calapa Bridge.
