Carnívoro Fest 2025 transformed Mérida into a hub of gastronomic exploration, delighting food enthusiasts with its diverse offerings and unforgettable experiences. This year’s highlight was the introduction of ostrich meat and eggs—an exotic option winning global acclaim for its exceptional nutritional benefits.
Uriel González, proprietor of the Carne de Avestruz restaurant, shed light on this culinary novelty. “Ostrich meat is a healthier alternative to beef or pork, boasting a flavor similar to beef steak that has captivated taste buds worldwide,” he explained. González emphasized its impressive nutritional profile, consisting of 97% protein and a mere 3% fat. Attendees could sample three distinct varieties: roasted, chorizo, and marinated.
Equally fascinating were the ostrich eggs, weighing an average of 1.5 kilograms—roughly equivalent to two dozen chicken eggs. González highlighted their versatility, saying, “Ostrich eggs offer numerous benefits over traditional eggs. They can be refrigerated and enjoyed occasionally.” Each egg was priced affordably at 250 pesos.
Beyond the culinary excitement, Carnívoro Fest 2025 offered a rich program of attractions, from wrestling matches to local art exhibitions. Organizer Jessica Marín shared, “There’s something for everyone, including refreshing drinks to complement the warm weather and make it a perfect afternoon.”
Carnívoro Fest 2025 proved to be a paradise for meat lovers and adventurers alike, combining bold flavors, innovative offerings, and a vibrant atmosphere. It stood out as an event that not only celebrated food but also brought families and friends together for a one-of-a-kind experience.
