State Governor Mauricio Kuri González indicated that there are no plans to ban or regulate bullfights in Querétaro. This follows the approval of an initiative in Mexico City to prohibit bloodshed in these types of events.
However, he considered that bullfighting is not a popular sport in Querétaro, and such an initiative would not be feasible. Furthermore, Mauricio Kuri González noted that bullfighting has been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the State of Querétaro for nearly 12 years.
