Despite recent cases of violent robberies reported on highways and freeways in Nuevo León, security authorities ruled out the existence of a criminal gang lurking on roads.

After participating in the Roundtable for Peacebuilding, the heads of federal, state, and municipal security forces held a press conference to address the issue.

Nuevo León Attorney General Javier Flores Saldivar stated that in the most recent case, the robbery of nearly 300,000 pesos from a local resident on the Laredo highway, the victim had already filed a complaint. He ruled out the existence of a gang operating in the area with the same modus operandi.

“There is no group operating in the area. The victim’s complaint has already been filed, and we are investigating and gathering information,” he said.
Meanwhile, Security Secretary Gerardo Escamilla Vargas stated that they are close to identifying those responsible for this case.

“We are close to identifying the suspects,” he said.
He emphasized that the carousel operation is underway and will be reinforced with the recent graduation of Civil Force cadets.
