Two police officers from the municipality of Paraíso, located 74 kilometers from the capital Villahermosa, were executed this morning as they were leaving their duty station.
The incident occurred in the Moctezuma Second Section of the municipality, where the Dos Bocas refinery is located. The officers were riding a red motorcycle, which was left lying on the side of the road.
After the attack, National Guard (GN) and Army personnel cordoned off the area, and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) recovered the bodies. The police officers’ executions occurred as authorities carried out operations in the Chontalpa area, which includes Paraíso.
On social media, it was reported that yesterday, members of the “Olmeca” Interinstitutional Tactical Reaction Force (FIRT) arrested an alleged leader of a local criminal group in the municipality of Comalcalco, located 57 kilometers from Villahermosa.
Jorge “N,” alias “El Puma,” is considered one of the main perpetrators of violence in the state, with a presence in the Chontalpa area. Unofficial reports indicate that he was arrested while staying at a hotel in Comalcalco and was being “escorted” by preventive police from that municipality.
Authorities have not officially announced the arrest of the criminal leader, who is linked to crimes such as extortion, drug trafficking, and homicide.
