The clown community of the Papaloapan basin region in the state of Oaxaca is in shock due to the official identification of the body of the male lynched in the El Esfuerzo neighborhood of the municipality of Tuxtepec.
The man who was beaten to death was a clown from the region who worked under the name “Soldadín.” His crime was being accused of alleged sexual abuse, which he was unable to defend himself against in court, as required by Mexican law.
The clown “Soldadín” died burned and torn apart inside; he was denied medical attention.
The alleged victim’s family and friends took justice into their own hands after brutally beating him unconscious and “bursting” him inside due to the series of punches and kicks he received.
“Soldadín” lay on the floor in agony for approximately 10 hours, where he could not be assisted or rescued. As a result of the blows and severe bruises, he died just a few hours later after being taken by his sister to a hospital, where he was denied medical attention.
His body also showed signs of burns, as during the attack he was doused with alcohol and later they tried to set him on fire, although they only managed to burn his back and one of his shoulders.
Before being lynched in Oaxaca, this was ‘Soldadín,’ who leaves behind a legacy of clowns.
Already characterized, “Soldadín” was described as very friendly, smiling, charismatic, and an “excellent clown.” He even sought help from his children (also clowns), and together they had a magic show that they performed at children’s parties.
At the moment, the regional deputy prosecutor’s office of the Papaloapan basin has taken over the investigation file, and the State Investigation Agency (AEI) will conduct the corresponding investigations.
On the other hand, “Soldadín’s” body will only be released by the authorities after his friends and family demanded justice.
It should be noted that “Soldadín” was named Cayetano San Juan and was 50 years old before he died at the hands of his acquaintances.
