In response to the devastating floods that swept through Tamaulipas, leaving a trail of destruction and displaced residents, the government of Nuevo León has pledged to provide critical aid to those affected.
Governor Samuel García confirmed on social media that his administration will dispatch support to the battered areas, assuring residents that his team is prepared to collaborate in rescue and assistance efforts. “Friends of Reynosa and Tamaulipas, today we are going to send aid and operations for yesterday’s storms,” García stated in a Facebook post. “Count on us; we will see it at the security meeting soon.”
The offer comes as part of an ongoing relief effort led by Nuevo León authorities in collaboration with Tamaulipas authorities and the National Civil Protection Coordination. According to Erik Cavazos, director of Civil Protection in Nuevo León, direct communication is being maintained to coordinate efforts and ensure a unified response.
The heavy rains that caused widespread flooding in Reynosa and other towns in Tamaulipas have resulted in extensive property damage, power outages, and reports of missing individuals. In response, the state government has declared a state of emergency.
With assistance from Nuevo León now on the way, relief efforts for the affected population are expected to be bolstered. As residents continue to cope with the aftermath of the disaster, this influx of aid is seen as a vital lifeline in their recovery process.
The security meeting scheduled for Friday at 8:00 a.m. will address the issue further and outline the specific measures that will be taken to support those affected by the floods.
