Nuevo León averages 80 dog bite cases treated per week.

As of week 10, 796 patients were treated for dog bites in Nuevo León, for a weekly average of 80, while nationally, 24,165 cases were recorded, for an average of 2,416 per week.

According to data from the Epidemiological Bulletin compiled by the General Directorate of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health at the federal level, the state saw a 3.92 percent increase during this period compared to 2024, going from 766 to 796, while in Mexico the increase was 1.62 percent, rising from 23,799 to 24,165.

After the first ten weeks of 2025, according to the authority, Nuevo León ranked 10th among the country’s 32 states.

Meanwhile, the top six states with the most cases of this type accumulated 10,742 of the 24,165 cases, or 44.45 percent of the national total.

This follows 2,870 reports in the State of Mexico, 2,431 in Mexico City, 1,617 in Jalisco, 1,580 in Puebla, 1,205 in Veracruz, and 1,039 in Guanajuato.

These are also the only states that exceeded 1,000 patients due to this cause in the first ten weeks of this year.

Next in the national dog bite picture are Yucatán with 962, Hidalgo with 847, San Luis Potosí with 810, Nuevo León with 796, Oaxaca with 779, Michoacán with 744, and Tamaulipas with 707.

Querétaro with 669, Sonora with 644, Coahuila with 617, Guerrero with 617, Sinaloa with 561, Baja California with 516, Durango with 496, Chiapas with 475, Morelos with 393, Quintana Roo with 391, Chihuahua with 326, Tabasco with 315, Zacatecas with 315, Tlaxcala with 313, Aguascalientes with 269, Campeche with 268, Nayarit with 266, Colima with 196, and Baja California Sur with 131.
