The state governor, Mauricio Kuri González, asserted that Querétaro is experiencing an impressive global boom. He emphasized this while leading the presentation of certificates to students who completed the “Querétaro Unpublished” Audiovisual Diploma, which aims to offer a closer look at the city’s history through an educational program.
“Querétaro has grown impressively; it has brought many beautiful things, but it has also brought great challenges. Querétaro, as has been mentioned, had an agricultural vocation, which has not diminished, and then it gradually shifted to an industrial sector, and now Querétaro, I can truly tell you, is experiencing an impressive global boom,” he emphasized.
David Estrada invites you to discover the “unprecedented Querétaro”
The historian and journalist offers a close-up look at the history of our city by examining documents, videos, and photographs that show the changes we have experienced over the last 100 years.
During the event held at the Palacio de la Corregidora, a course taught by historian and journalist David Rafael Estrada Correa, Kuri emphasized that Querétaro is the fourth-largest international destination for aerospace.
He added that growth in the automotive and real estate sectors has been exponential, which, he stated, requires major efforts to ensure Querétaro remains a sustainable destination.
“Mexico is going through very difficult times, and Querétaro is always part of those great moments. Querétaro, not just now, not during my administration, but for many years, has been seen as a place of legal certainty; we must continue to do so. Thank you for telling us about the history of our beautiful Querétaro. I love history because it’s like telling gossip, savoring it; it has so many points of view. You have to put yourself in the circumstances of each leader, in the circumstances of the economic moment, but if you look, everything repeats itself,” she stated.
The Secretary of Culture, Ana Paola López Birlain, alluded to the governor’s instruction to promote knowledge of the history of Mexico and the state, which is reflected, she said, in the strategic planning of the agency under her charge, which has established the promotion and development of state and regional identity as its third guiding principle.
Meanwhile, the director and instructor of the diploma program, David Rafael Estrada Correa, confirmed that Querétaro is a privileged state, recalling that historically, important events have occurred in this territory that have defined the country’s course, since the beginning of the Independence movement. Therefore, he emphasized that the program’s subject matter covered the period from 1929 to the present, with all its events, personalities, tangible works, emblematic businesses, institutions, and social movements.
“This morning we closed a cycle. After eight months, today we concluded the Querétaro Unpublished Audiovisual Diploma, in which I present to you a portion of the personal, film, photographic, and documentary collection I have compiled over four decades—a collection of more than five thousand pieces that will in the future form part of Querétaro’s memory. I would like to thank the 35 members of this fourth generation of the Querétaro Unpublished Diploma, which now has 135 graduates, including 34 from the first generation, 32 from the second, and 34 from the third,” he expressed.
The “Querétaro Unpublished” Diploma lasted eight months, divided into five modules of six classes, each lasting three hours. The courses were held at the Museum of the Conspirators and the Museum of the Restoration of the Republic. It is unique in its genre, presenting previously unpublished films, videos, audios, and interviews from 20th-century Querétaro, specifically from 1929 to the present, a period in which the state has transitioned from an agricultural Querétaro to an industrial Querétaro.
