As the Easter holiday season approaches, tourists flocking to Mérida International Airport will be relieved to know that there are alternative transportation options available to get them to the city center without breaking the bank.
Traditional taxi services can be pricey, and ride-hailing platforms like Uber are not authorized to operate within the airport complex. However, the Airport Route of the Va y Ven System offers a convenient and affordable solution for travelers.
For just $45 pesos, non-residents of Yucatán who don’t have a Va y Ven card can use one of the three units that operate on a continuous route from 24 hours a day, Monday through Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at ADO ticket offices located within the airport, on Paseo 60, and at the ADO terminal in Mérida’s Historic Center.
The Airport Route features six strategic stops along the way:
1. ADO Terminal Mérida (68th Street): The main transportation hub for long-distance buses.
2. ADO Terminal Paseo 60: Another major bus station serving local and regional routes.
3. Parque Santa Lucía (60th and 58th Streets): A vibrant public space in the heart of Mérida’s downtown area.
4. Hotel Fiesta Americana: A popular hotel catering to tourists and business travelers alike.
5. International Convention Center: A state-of-the-art venue hosting conferences, exhibitions, and events.
6. ADO Terminal (69th Street): The main bus station for short-distance routes within Mérida.
This convenient transportation option is perfect for visitors arriving at Mérida International Airport who want to get to the city center without breaking the bank or dealing with long lines for taxis or ride-hailing services.
